Do you NEED A Doctorate?

Good question!
For some, the doctorate represents a life-long dream they want to earn simply for achievement's sake; fortunately, they study without the added stress of having to meet employer or HR deadlines to achieve this important milestone. For this group, the dissertation journey paves the way to personal fulfillment for its own sake.

For others, earning a doctorate may be the ticket to "the look" from one's #goals employer or position. Without this required credential, that dream job remains, well, just a fantasy. Therefore, all the diligence and competencies associated with this degree add up to the life still ahead of them.
Another group lands in the middle of the two above: those who already work in the field of their choice, and for which the PhD or EdD designation after their name will certainly bump them to another tier of the company--and that would be nice--but it isn't specifically expected or demanded to stay happily employed or respected.
